2021.09.24 19:38 fan_of_hakiksexydays The word FUD in crypto is shifting in meaning. And it actually reveals something important about the market.
| When you see people use the term FUD these days, I see an increasing number of people react by saying "maybe this is actually true", "Evergrande may really default", "Evergrande is legit in debt, this is not FUD". |
What FUD means
Originally, FUD means any negative news that can cause fear of something. In this case, news that causes fear in the market, and uncertainty about buying something. It literally means Fear Uncertainty and Doubt.
What is it changing to
I think some people may have begun to believe that the F stands for fake.
But that wouldn't be the first time. FUD has been used since the roaring 20s. And while it originally means news that causes fear, throughout its history, it has also meant active propaganda to paint something in a negative light. Occasionally, the D was changed to "disinformation".
Recently, the term FUD in crypto has increasingly changed its connotation to something more like Frivolous Unfounded and Disinformation more than its original meaning.
Where is it coming from?
There's a good reason, historically FUD in crypto has turned out to be either exaggeration, nothingburgers, or straight up bullshit.
Every year, and almost every month, crypto is hit with new FUD. Naysayers trying to push some negative agenda. But as the technology is increasingly proving to be sound and even finding more practical usage and tech advancement, it gets harder to find significant points of attack.
And if there's no new FUD to be dug up, you have to recycle old China FUD or Tether FUD. This makes FUD look increasingly biased and unfounded.
In the years after the Mt Gox debacle, one of the favorite FUD that was recycled, was reminding people that there could be tens of thousands of Bitcoins dropped on the market when the Mt Gox wallet released its Bitcoin for repayment. They used that FUD for years.
Just this year, crypto was hit with SEC FUD that claimed the SEC would go after most alt coins in the same way they went after XRP. A couple months later, we had the big India ban, with some of the ministers wanting to ban crypto. We even had major China FUD just weeks ago, with the ban of Bitcoin miners.
What has been the result?
Each time crypto has ended up bouncing back, and moved on. And continued doing what it wants to do despite fundamentals. Sometimes not even dipping on bad news, like in the case of the miners ban, and going from $30K to $50k.
And this is not just with FUD news. There's been a lot of big positive news too. But not all the price spikes followed the timing of good news either.
The short term dynamics
That's because short term, crypto is speculative and the market reacts to the dynamics of trades more than the outside news or fundamentals.
Only selective news or black swan events will cause changes in the market. Like a big black swan event when all markets dipped in March 2020 due to Covid. Or if there's a big enough event in the stock market. Otherwise, news either amplify an existing trend, or gets ignored.
As we've seen with the India ban news. The market was already on course with lower highs and lower lows. This was also after Bitcoin went too high too fast to $61K, and a correction was due. When the news hit the media throughout the blue circle, the market actually went up, then failed to break the trend. Then had its correction. The news didn't coincide perfectly, but the narrative might have helped the media push the dip further.
Same with Elon's tweets. We were in a textbook Wyckoff distribution. Meaning the market was already in the phase selling its positions, and the price was unable to break new highs.
But in the case of the miner bans, it didn't coincide with anything the market was doing, so it was ignored. Typically, there is always an event they can exploit, because every month there is always at least one big positive news and one big negative.
The long term dynamics
Long term, none of it matters. The crypto market has never followed long term trends of outside markets, or been influenced by them. It's been almost crazy how for over a decade, it has followed its own course without fail, and followed its cycles like clockwork. No matter if there's bans, Mt Gox getting snuffed out, exchange hacks, China FUD, or even pandemics.
Long term, it seems that the only thing that matters is that blockchains keeps on running, people keep on using it, and the math keeps adding up.

2021.09.24 19:38 Youwantitdark3r P*ssy is not a gift
If I just came home from a long day of work, I don't want to have sex right now, especially if I'm going to be doing all the work. My feet, legs, arms, head, and most of my body hurt. All I want to do is eat something and go to sleep. There are convenient times and inconvenient times for everything.
If it's Valentine's Day, and I just finished spending 50 dollars on you, you don't owe me sex. I'm not doing all of this because I want something back, but because I want to. But also, don't be thinking that having sex with me is some kind of equivalent exchange. It's not. You might think your p*ssy is a gift, but I promise you it's not. Just like my dick isn't.

2021.09.24 19:38 AThrowawayLondonName 34 [M4F] London UK, Unappreciated and looking for someone fun and exciting
I'm married and that's unlikely to change. I'm looking for someone talkative, fun, and passionate to chat to, maybe flirt with and see what happens. I work in film, life a rather bizarre life, and am free to chat at all sorts of weird hours of the day and night, so say hi.

2021.09.24 19:38 RocketLocator Inexpensive 70cm receiver w/ functional signal strength meter for foxhunt
I've got several HTs that I use with a yagi for fox hunting, but an old Baofeng that I got from Amazon doesn't have a useable signal strenght meter (it's either on, or off -- nothing in between) Can someone recommend an inexpensive (under $50) 70cm FM receiver, preferably from Amazon, that has a useable signal strength meter? I'm in the US

2021.09.24 19:38 deeare73 Nozzle recommendations
Hi, I'm a novice printer.
Would people give me some recommendations for nozzles preferably from Amazon (just because it's easy)? Are all the inexpensive brass volcano nozzles essentially the same? If I'm mainly printing PLA, does it make sense to get a more expensive nozzle?
For hardened nozzles, does steel vs copper make a difference?
